Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of nTer, a Christian devotional and reflective service provided by Matt White International (Pty) Ltd. They apply alongside our Privacy Policy and Refund and Cancellation Policy. At checkout, you also enter a separate purchase agreement with Paddle for payment and subscription administration. By creating an account or using nTer, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use nTer. You may download or print a copy for your records.

1. Who we are
nTer is operated by Matt White International (Pty) Ltd (“MWI”, “we”, “us” or “our”), a private company incorporated in the Republic of South Africa under registration number 2017/378663/07. 2. Definitions
2.1 “Account” means your personal nTer account linked to your email address.
2.2 “nTer Content” means the devotional writing, music, recordings, images, artwork, software, interfaces, design, branding and other materials made available through nTer.
2.3 “LightDrop” means the devotional reading assigned or otherwise made available through the Service. A daily LightDrop is the reading assigned to your current local date.
2.4 “nTer Moment” means the optional daily email communication sent, where you choose it, to draw your attention to or provide a route to the LightDrop for your current local date.
2.5 “Gifted Reading” means a temporary entitlement, created through nTer’s approved one-to-one gifting feature, to access one already-published LightDrop for the limited period presented by the Service.
2.6 “Gifted Reading email” means the one-to-one email notice sent at an eligible member’s request to the recipient email address they provide. It gives the recipient the notice and claim route for a Gifted Reading; it is not a permanent copy of the Gifted Reading.
2.7 “Service” means the nTer website and responsive web application, Account, LightDrops, nTer Moment email, Whisper Journal, Candle Connection, nTer’s virtual candle feature, the limited devotional-gifting feature where enabled, and related features made available from time to time.
2.8 “SoulName” means the display name you choose for use within nTer. It need not be your real name.
2.9 “Subscription” means a paid recurring plan for the access and features described at checkout.
2.10 “Whisper Journal” means the personal journal feature in which you may write reflections.
2.11 “Your Content” means text you place in the Whisper Journal and other material you intentionally submit as your own content, excluding account, billing and technical data, recipient contact information, Gifted Reading delivery information and operational gift data governed by the Privacy Policy.
3. Eligibility and your Account
3.1 nTer is for adults only. You must be 18 or older to create an Account or use the Service. A Gifted Reading is also intended only for an adult. Before a Gifted Reading can be sent, the gifting flow requires the giver to confirm that the recipient is 18 or older and is someone the giver knows or with whom the giver has an existing relationship or acquaintance. A member must not initiate a Gifted Reading for a person whom the member knows or reasonably believes is under 18. By creating an Account or using the Service, you confirm that you meet the applicable age requirement and have legal capacity to agree to these Terms.
3.2 At launch, ordinary Account sign-in uses a magic link sent to your email address. nTer may make another secure authentication or onboarding route available for a particular journey, including a Gifted Reading claim. Keep your email account, authentication credentials and sign-in links secure, do not forward a magic link, and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
3.3 Your Account is personal and may not be shared or transferred. One Account is permitted per email address unless we approve otherwise.
3.4 A SoulName is a pseudonymous display name, not a guarantee of anonymity. We and our service providers still process your email address, Account data and other information as described in the Privacy Policy.
3.5 If we reasonably determine that an Account belongs to a person under 18, we may close it and delete or anonymise the associated personal information, subject to legal, security, payment and record-retention requirements. Any payment issue will be handled through Paddle as required by law.
3.6 At launch, nTer is available only to people whose country of ordinary residence is in a territory in which we make the Service available. nTer is not available to people ordinarily resident in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom. When you create an Account, you must state your country of ordinary residence and confirm that the information is accurate. “Ordinary residence” means the country where you normally live and to which you ordinarily return, judged by your settled circumstances; temporary travel or a temporary stay elsewhere does not, by itself, change it, and nationality alone does not determine it. At initial Account creation only, we also use a coarse country-level location check. We will not create an Account where that request is detected as originating in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, or where the country cannot be reliably resolved. This location check does not determine your ordinary residence and is not used continuously after an eligible Account has been created. An eligible user whose Account was validly created outside those territories does not lose access merely because they later travel to or spend time temporarily in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom. A Gifted Reading does not bypass these rules: a recipient who already has a valid Account may sign in under the ordinary rules for that Account, while a recipient who needs to create a new Account must satisfy the territorial eligibility requirements before Account creation. The person sending a Gifted Reading is not asked to determine or warrant the recipient’s ordinary residence. A Gifted Reading email may therefore incidentally reach a recipient who is in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom because of the eligible giver’s existing personal relationship or acquaintance. nTer does not use that incidental delivery to target, market to or deliberately open Account creation or Subscriptions in those territories, and the Gifted Reading does not bypass the territorial controls that apply before any new Account can be created. If you do not provide your country of ordinary residence, decline to confirm its accuracy, provide materially inaccurate information, or later become ordinarily resident in an excluded territory, we may decline to create, restrict, suspend or end future Service access. Any existing Whisper Journal content remains subject to the access, export, deletion and retention provisions in these Terms and the Privacy Policy. Any refund or payment adjustment is handled under the Refund and Cancellation Policy, Paddle’s applicable terms and mandatory law. We will update these Terms before deliberately opening nTer to ordinary residents of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom.
4. The Service
4.1 nTer offers a daily LightDrop, the Whisper Journal and Candle Connection, nTer’s virtual candle feature. The daily LightDrop shown is the reading assigned to your current local date using the timezone stored in your Account. nTer is not a dated archive and does not ordinarily provide access to earlier readings. A Gifted Reading is a narrow exception: where gifting is enabled, one already-published LightDrop may be made temporarily available through that gift without creating archive, library or general historic-browsing access.
4.2 The nTer Moment is the optional daily email communication. Email delivery depends on the preference you select. Delivery times are approximate and may be affected by your email provider, connectivity, spam settings or events outside our reasonable control. The Service remains the place where the relevant LightDrop is accessed.
4.3 We may improve, replace, add, remove or change features. If a change materially reduces the core paid Service during a current paid period, we will give reasonable notice and provide any remedy required by applicable law.
4.4 We aim to keep nTer secure, available and reliable, but maintenance, updates, security incidents, provider failures and other events may interrupt access. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability.
4.5 The Whisper Journal is private in the sense that it is not publicly displayed or shared with other nTer users. It is stored and technically processed by us and our service providers as described in the Privacy Policy. Do not assume it is end-to-end encrypted unless we expressly state that it is.
4.6 nTer does not provide public user profiles, public posting or user-to-user messaging. Where gifting is enabled, an eligible Account holder may use nTer’s approved one-to-one gift flow to create temporary access to one already-published LightDrop for another adult. nTer sends a Gifted Reading email to the recipient address provided by the giver. The email provides notice and a claim route; the Whisper Journal, Your Content and journal-derived information are never included in the gift.
4.7 A gift may be started from the LightDrop currently open or, where available, by using the gift flow to search already-published readings solely to identify one reading to give. That search and any limited recognition preview do not create a personal archive, library, saved-reading list or general right to browse earlier readings. Opening a Gifted Reading email or its landing page does not itself claim the gift. Claiming requires a deliberate action through the claim journey and, where required, the applicable authentication, eligibility or onboarding steps. The Gifted Reading is intended for the person chosen by the giver, but nTer does not verify the giver’s off-platform relationship with that person or require a recipient Account email address to match the address to which the Gifted Reading email was delivered. Do not forward a gift claim link. If you do not recognise the gift, believe it was not intended for you, or prefer not to receive another Gifted Reading from the same sender, do not claim it and use the available refusal or blocking route. You may also ask nTer not to send any further Gifted Reading emails to your address. For an existing Account holder, the Gifted Reading is additional to any access that Account already has. It remains available only for the limited period the Service presents, ordinarily until the recipient’s next local-day boundary, with the expiry displayed in the claim experience. We do not tell the giver whether the recipient opened the email, claimed the gift, created an Account, subscribed, requested a block or failed an eligibility check.
4.8 The Service may rely on third-party hosting, email, authentication, diagnostics, support and other technology services. Their availability may affect nTer. Any third-party link or service has its own terms and privacy practices.
5. Subscriptions, Paddle, billing and cancellation
5.1 Paddle means the Paddle group company identified at checkout or on your receipt. Depending on your location, this may be Paddle.com Inc., Paddle.com (Canada) Ltd. or Paddle.com Market Limited. Paddle acts as the authorised reseller and Merchant of Record for your purchase. Your purchase, payment and billing relationship with Paddle is governed by Paddle’s Buyer Terms and Refund Policy. These Terms govern your use of nTer.
5.2 The current price, currency, billing period, renewal cadence, taxes and any other charge are shown before you place an order. Paddle processes payment and sends the transaction receipt. We do not receive your full payment-card details.
5.3 A Subscription renews automatically for the period shown at checkout until it is cancelled. Paddle will provide any renewal reminder required by applicable law. If the price changes, you will receive advance notice and may cancel before the new price is charged. Where law requires express consent to a price change, the increased price will not be charged without that consent.
5.4 nTer does not offer a free trial that automatically converts to a paid Subscription. You may use the introductory free experience without providing payment details, and you are never charged unless you choose to subscribe. A Subscription begins only when you actively subscribe and provide payment through Paddle.
5.5 You may cancel future renewal at any time through the cancellation control in your Account or the Paddle buyer portal. Ordinary cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period, and access continues until then unless the Service says otherwise.
5.6 If mandatory consumer law gives you a right to terminate during a paid fixed term, to receive a credit, or to cancel on different notice, that right applies. Contact support@nter.life so that any required adjustment or refund can be arranged through Paddle. An ordinary end-of-period cancellation does not itself create a right to a refund for time already used.
5.7 Some consumers have a statutory cooling-off or withdrawal right. The Refund and Cancellation Policy and Paddle’s Refund Policy explain how to exercise it. Where applicable law permits that right to end once immediate digital access begins, checkout may ask you to request immediate access and expressly acknowledge the legal consequence. Any right is affected only to the extent the law permits.
5.8 Refunds and payment reversals are processed by Paddle. We do not issue payment refunds directly. Nothing in these Terms reduces a mandatory refund, cancellation, chargeback or consumer right.
5.9 If a payment fails, Paddle may retry it and may cancel the Subscription. We may suspend paid access after reasonable notice, or sooner where fraud, abuse or security risk is reasonably suspected.
5.10 When paid entitlement ends, access to future paid-service content, the daily nTer Moment email and new Whisper Journal writing ends. Existing Whisper Journal entries remain available to read, export and delete while the Account remains active, subject to the Privacy Policy and published retention rules. Ending a Subscription does not transfer ownership of or confiscate Your Content.
5.11 Only an Account with current paid entitlement, including a temporary billing grace state, may initiate a Gifted Reading or use the gift-only search feature. A Gifted Reading grants only the limited entitlement to that Gifted Reading. It does not itself create, renew or restore a Subscription or any other entitlement. Any other access the recipient already has continues according to the recipient’s existing Account, introductory experience or Subscription status.
6. Intellectual property and Your Content
6.1 nTer Content is owned by us or licensed to us and is protected by copyright, trade mark and other laws. While your access is active, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable and revocable licence to access and use nTer Content for your own non-commercial devotional use.
6.2 Except where the Service expressly allows or the law permits, you may not copy, reproduce, publish, distribute, sell, licence, adapt, translate, create derivative works from, publicly perform, scrape, systematically extract or commercially exploit nTer Content. You may not use nTer Content or data from the Service to create a dataset, train an artificial-intelligence model, or build a competing service. Using nTer’s approved one-to-one gifting feature is an express permission limited to that in-service gift flow; it does not grant a broader right to reproduce, distribute or republish nTer Content independently.
6.3 As between you and us, you retain any rights you have in Your Content. You grant us a limited, worldwide licence to host, copy, transmit, back up, secure, retrieve and display Your Content back to you, and to process it only as reasonably necessary to provide, protect, troubleshoot and lawfully operate the Service. This licence ends when the relevant content is deleted, subject to backups, legal retention and technical deletion cycles described in the Privacy Policy.
6.4 We do not use the text of your Whisper Journal for advertising, behavioural profiling or training artificial-intelligence models. This is a material service commitment and must be read with the operational details in our Privacy Policy.
6.5 You may use the available controls to export or delete Your Content. Account deletion may be irreversible, so export anything you wish to keep before deleting your Account.
6.6 The nTer name, logo, brand devices and associated goodwill are our trade marks or branding. These Terms grant no right to use them except as necessary to identify the Service for personal, lawful reference.
7. Acceptable use
When using nTer, you agree not to:
7.1 share, sell, transfer or misuse your Account or sign-in links;
7.2 scrape, harvest, index, mirror or extract content or data by automated means without our written permission;
7.3 probe, scan, attack, overload, disrupt, circumvent a territorial or security control, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, an Account, source code or security measure;
7.4 reverse-engineer, decompile or attempt to derive source code, except to the limited extent the law does not permit this restriction;
7.5 upload malicious code, interfere with another person’s use, impersonate another person, or submit material that infringes another person’s rights;
7.6 use nTer for an unlawful, fraudulent or abusive purpose, or use nTer Content beyond the licence in clause 6; or
7.7 remove ownership notices, misrepresent the source of nTer Content, or suggest that nTer endorses you without written permission; or
7.8 use the gifting feature for bulk or automated sending, promotion, harassment, scraping, circumvention of entitlement or territorial controls, or any purpose inconsistent with a genuine one-to-one personal gift. You may only provide a recipient email address for an adult whom you know or with whom you have an existing relationship or acquaintance, and you must not send a Gifted Reading if you know or reasonably believe that person is under 18. You must not use nTer to continue contacting a person who has asked you directly not to contact them through nTer. Gifting is a limited privilege within the Service and may be subject to reasonable per-Account, per-recipient and anti-abuse rate limits. We may temporarily restrict or withdraw gifting access where use indicates harassment, repeated unwanted contact, automation, circumvention or other abuse, and serious or repeated misuse may also be addressed under clause 11.2.
8. Privacy
8.1 Our Privacy Policy explains what personal information we process, why we process it, where it may be processed, how long it is retained, which service providers receive it, and how to exercise your rights.
8.2 Your use of a Christian devotional service and the content of your Whisper Journal may reveal religious beliefs or other sensitive information. We rely on the lawful grounds described in the Privacy Policy and request explicit consent where applicable law requires it.
8.3 You may withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal. Where the separate Whisper Journal consent is required for us to process journal content, we give you an authenticated opportunity to export or delete your writing before final withdrawal takes effect. Once that withdrawal takes effect, new journal writing and ordinary read/decrypt access stop and live Whisper Journal content is deleted, subject to backup cycles and any limited retention required by law. The Privacy Policy explains this process in more detail.
8.4 A SoulName does not make your Account anonymous to us, Paddle or the service providers described in the Privacy Policy.
9. Devotional content is not professional advice
9.1 nTer provides general spiritual, devotional and reflective content. It is not personalised medical, psychological, psychiatric, financial, legal, pastoral or counselling advice, and it is not a substitute for a qualified professional who understands your circumstances.
9.2 nTer is not a church, clergy service, emergency service, crisis service or counselling service. We do not monitor the Whisper Journal for requests for help and cannot respond to entries as they are written. If you are in distress or danger, contact a qualified professional or local emergency service.
9.3 We do not promise a particular spiritual, emotional, health, relationship or other outcome. Devotional content reflects particular authors and may not correspond with every Christian denomination, tradition or personal belief.
10. Service disclaimers and liability

10.1 We will provide nTer with the degree of care, skill and quality required by applicable law. Subject to those rights, the Service is provided on an “as available” basis. We do not warrant that it will always be uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with every device, or suitable for a purpose you have not expressly agreed with us.
10.2 To the extent the law permits, we are not liable for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable when you agreed to these Terms, indirect or consequential loss, business or commercial loss arising from personal use, or delay or failure caused by an event outside our reasonable control. We remain responsible where the law makes us responsible for our selection or management of a service provider.
10.3 To the extent the law permits, our total aggregate liability arising from the paid Service is limited to the amount paid for your Subscription during the 12 months immediately before the event giving rise to the claim.
10.4 A Gifted Reading and any introductory free experience are provided without charge. You may decline a Gifted Reading without creating an Account or entering into a Subscription. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for indirect, consequential or unforeseeable loss arising solely from a Gifted Reading or free introductory use. Nothing in this clause excludes any liability or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
10.5 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, gross negligence, deliberate misconduct, death or personal injury where liability cannot be excluded, breach of duties that cannot lawfully be limited, or any mandatory consumer or data-protection right.
11. Suspension, termination and Account deletion
11.1 You may stop using nTer at any time, cancel your Subscription and request or use available controls to delete your Account. Subscription cancellation and Account deletion are separate actions.
11.2 We may restrict, suspend or end access if you materially or repeatedly breach these Terms, fail to pay, act unlawfully, create security or fraud risk, misuse nTer, or if law or a competent authority requires it. Where reasonable and lawful, we will give notice and an opportunity to remedy a remediable breach.
11.3 We may discontinue nTer or a paid part of it. If we end a paid Service before the end of a paid period for reasons unrelated to your breach, we will provide any notice, continued access, replacement service, credit or refund required by law, with refunds processed through Paddle.
11.4 When access ends, the licence in clause 6 ends. The Privacy Policy governs retention, deletion and backup cycles for personal information and Your Content. Clauses intended by their nature to continue, including intellectual property, liability, disputes and general terms, survive termination.
12. Changes to these Terms
12.1 We may update these Terms to reflect legal, security, operational or service changes. We will change the version number and effective date and give reasonable advance notice of a material change.
12.2 If a material change adversely affects your current paid use, you may cancel before it takes effect. Where law requires fresh agreement or consent, we will request it and will not rely only on continued use.
13. Complaints, governing law and disputes
13.1 For product or Account complaints, contact support@nter.life. For legal or privacy complaints, contact info@mattwhiteinternational.com. We will consider the complaint in good faith and respond within a reasonable time.
13.2 For a payment, billing, cancellation or refund complaint, use the support route on your Paddle receipt or buyer portal. We will cooperate with Paddle where the issue concerns nTer access or performance.
13.3 South African consumers may refer an unresolved consumer complaint to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud or the National Consumer Commission where their jurisdiction applies. Privacy complaints may be lodged with the Information Regulator. These routes do not remove any other lawful remedy.
13.4 These Terms and your use of nTer are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa. The parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the South African courts.
13.5 If you are a consumer resident outside South Africa, this choice of law and jurisdiction does not deprive you of mandatory consumer rights or access to a court or regulator that applicable law gives you in your country of residence.
14. General
14.1 These Terms, the Privacy Policy and the Refund and Cancellation Policy form the agreement between you and us concerning nTer. Paddle’s Buyer Terms and Refund Policy separately govern the purchase transaction with Paddle. If there is a conflict, mandatory law prevails; Paddle’s terms govern payment and the purchase transaction; these Terms govern access to and use of nTer; the Privacy Policy governs personal information; and the Refund and Cancellation Policy governs our published refund process, subject to Paddle’s role as seller.
14.2 If a provision is unlawful or unenforceable, it will be limited or removed only to the extent necessary, and the remaining provisions continue.
14.3 A delay or failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of that right.
14.4 You may not transfer your Account or rights under these Terms without our written consent. We may transfer our rights and obligations to an affiliate or a successor as part of a reorganisation, financing, sale or transfer of nTer or relevant assets, provided that your rights are not materially reduced and any notice required by law is given.
14.5 We may send notices to the email address linked to your Account or through the Service. You must keep your email address current. Legal notices to us may be sent to info@mattwhiteinternational.com and to the physical address in clause 1.
14.6 The English version of these Terms is the governing version unless mandatory law requires otherwise. A translation is provided for convenience unless it expressly states that it is authoritative.
14.7 Headings assist reading and do not affect interpretation. References to law include amendments and replacements. “Including” means “including without limitation”.
